The Eat Food NOT Money Cookbook

Just a tip

If a recipe calls for “softened gelatin” or “quick gelatin”,  that just means you soak the gelatin in 1/2 – 1/4 cup of cold water before you make the recipe.

  1. I didn’t know that. Is this primarily called for in desserts? I don’t make a lot of those so that might be why I was unaware 😉

    • yes Chris, usually in desserts but there are other uses…I’ll try to post a recipe or two using it in the near future 🙂

  2. I was looking for this gelatin because I wanted to try my hand at homemade marshmallows. Is it in the section where you buy Jello? Or somewhere else because I didn’t see it. Of course it could be the really lame grocery store here doesn’t have it.

    • Just use plain gelatin and let it soak about 15 minutes before you use it Joni. And yes, it’s on the aisle with the Jello 🙂
